Adult Advanced Course Optional Observations Summer 2025

Online Course

In order to enroll in the Advanced Course, a participant must have successfully completed the Introductory Course, Intermediate Course and Extended Practicum. The participants will learn strategies to teach advanced reading and spelling skills including morphology (assimilative prefixes, roots, advanced suffixes), semantics, and syntax to improve fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The OG approach is a direct, explicit, structured, systematic, cumulative, and multi-sensory method that includes supportive error correction and analysis to drive instruction. The participant will create lesson plans and work with students in a supervised practicum setting.

Participants are responsible for ordering their own course materials – a list of required materials will be provided upon registration.

NEW THIS YEAR: We are offering you the option to be observed and receive feedback from an instructor 3 more times with the completion of the Advanced Course. These observations will be scheduled with your instructor, there are no set dates. You will be observed with a student that you have chosen, OGMN will not provide you a student for these observations.

Registration is $400.00. Payment is due at time of registration. A $50 cancellation fee will apply if you cancel your registration before April 30. There will be no refunds offered after that.

Do I qualify for a merit-based scholarship?

These partial scholarships are merit-based. Each Scholarship Application is reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The committee looks at the number of students the applicants could impact in their current position. Scholarships generally range between $100-$200.

How do I apply for a merit-based scholarship?

1.) Complete the scholarship registration form below before the application deadline noted in the description at the top of this page.
