Adult Intermediate Course – Summer 2024 Pre-Requisite

To be eligible to enroll in the Intermediate Course and Practicum a participant must complete 100 hours of tutoring.  All those wishing to enroll in the Intermediate Course must complete the ‘100 Hour Tutoring’ form. Click Here  to complete form. Participants will receive either a confirmation with a registration link or a request for additional information.  The ‘100 Hour Tutoring’ form must be submitted and confirmed before a participant can register for this course.

OGMN audits approximately 10% of the documented lessons. If you are selected for an audit you will need to submit copies of your dated annotated lesson plans and the student’s corresponding work. (An annotated lesson plan includes your notes from your tutoring sessions.) Lessons without notes will not be accepted. Some individuals will be required to submit a video with a current student and the accompanying plans.

In this course, participants will learn strategies to teach intermediate reading and spelling including advanced phonemic awareness and phonics, syllable types/patterns and beginning affixes using an OG approach which is a direct, explicit, structured, systematic, cumulative and multi-sensory method that includes supportive error correction and analysis to drive instruction. Participants will create lesson plans to implement with students during the supervised practicum. Participants must attend all ten sessions.

Participants are responsible for ordering their own course materials – a list of required materials will be provided upon registration.

NEW THIS YEAR:  As you know, each participant is required to work with two students.  For the Intermediate course, the participant will bring one student with them; OGMN will provide the second student. The student that the participants bring may be tutored either in person or online. You will receive an email after registration with more details.

Participants must attend all ten sessions.
